Created at Letraset sometime before 1977, based on a showing of Stephenson Blake’s Carlton, a typeface that was inherited from the Caslon foundry, originally designed by F.H. Ehmcke and issued as Ehmcke-Antiqua by Flinsch in 1909.

While Linotype’s digital version has a greater language support, only ITC’s version includes Letraset’s original alternates for ‘AJPSTY’.
