William Farr, 1923–2015. Born in New York City. After jobs in sign painting (for the 1939 World’s Fair), jewelry, and stencil cutting (at Volupté), Farr began studying at the Cooper Union. Interrupted by three years of service in the U.S. Army Air Force, he completed the program after WWII and added another year at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. Farr worked for Montgomery Ward in Chicago from 1955 to 1985. He also did fine art including sculptures, photography, and more. [Obituary]
