Uma luta que vem de dentro, do centro. The CBJC (Centro Brasileiro de Justiça Climática, English: Brazilian Center for Climate Justice) is an NGO that was born big and brings climate struggles to the forefront with a racial slant. Its construction opens up a space for dialog, bringing its versions closer together and putting everyone in the same place, with contemporary, powerful communication.

The identity that is born in the geometric peripheries connects narratives and expands worldviews, taking them beyond the limits of the border; the brand is sharp, powerful, raw, like its struggle, it needs to be seen and above all remembered. The humanity present in the composition provokes concerns about the realities of those who are victims, while at the same time empowering voices that are going to transform the now; we need to be attentive and strong, and this is a construction that is at the heart of this change.

The project won the People’s Choice award in the Brand Design and Social Impact Design categories at Brazil Design Awards 2024 and in the Branding Category at the Latin American Design Awards 2025.

San Francisco–based studio Riser created a bright, modern identity for Nutranelle, a plant-based superfood protein brand founded by fitness enthusiast Janelle Babka. Riser handled all strategy, identity, packaging, and digital design, developing a system full of energy and optimism. Saturated, crisp colors and playful layouts give the packaging and website a youthful, happy feel.

The Nutranelle logo features IvyPresto, a graceful serif designed by Jan Maack for Ivy Foundry, which adds polish and structure. Across packaging and digital applications, Mackinac by Mike Beens for P22 Type Foundry brings warmth and softness to headlines and taglines. TT Commons from TypeType provides a strong geometric counterpoint—versatile and clean, ideal for its readability and a perfect foil for Mackinac.

Together, these typefaces strike a balance between vitality and clarity, echoing the brand’s mission to make feeling amazing easy.

Zilok Roams Yosemite is a children’s book written by Lee Peglow and PJ McCabe, and illustrated by Jamie Kwok Sitt. It tells the story of an alien stranded in Yosemite National Park. From the illustrator’s website:

After an unexpected crash-landing in Yosemite, Zilok needs to climb to the top of Half Dome to send a signal home. Along the way he receives some help from the incredible creatures of the forest!

The cover combines Pigeon Post for the title with Fictional for the author and illustrator credits. For the book’s interior text and the back cover, P22 Mackinac is used.

Minnie Bird is a fried chicken restaurant offering a menu of sandwiches, tenders, dirty sodas, and a special treat—free ice cream with every meal. The restaurant is partly owned by Sean Thomas (great grandson of Wendy's founder Dave Thomas) and named after his great-grandmother Minnie Sinclair. Opened in October of 2024, Minnie Bird is located in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The branding was created by Milwaukee-based designer Jim Kennelly. The Minnie Bird logo is custom lettering, but the featured font used in the headlines is Central Type's big, bold Dug. The body type is set in Tenso, but Etna, P22 Mackinac, and New Spirit are sprinkled in throughout.

“FINISH WITH A SCOOP” is Dug. Lines at the top and bottom are in italic caps from Tenso. “FREE ICE CREAM” and “Text Us!” are Etna. The phone number is set in P22 Mackinac.

MadeByShape, a web design and branding agency based in Manchester, redefined the identity of MiChild, an award-winning childcare provider. Tasked with crafting a fresh brand identity, we moved away from conventional childcare branding to introduce a vibrant, nurturing, and professional image.

This new identity was seamlessly integrated into a redesigned website, focusing on user-friendly navigation and highlighting MiChild’s commitment to quality childcare. Throughout the project, we utilised distinct typography and creative web design strategies, enhancing the brand's online visibility through effective SEO and engaging content writing. Our comprehensive approach not only refreshed the client’s branding but also strengthened its market presence, positioning MiChild as a leading childcare provider in the North West of the United Kingdom.

Yambo Studio is a CGI-driven design studio based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Their own identity was redesigned in 2019, together with Sömestr Studio from Istanbul, using the variable version of Agrandir. P22 Mackinac serves as secondary typeface. From the Behance presentation:

Our website has been meticulously redesigned and reimagined – from layout and user experience, to typography and a new logo. Much of the design was facilitated by a fresh and witty take on the typographic tone to reflect the high-voltage, tantalizing nature of the our work. We took an experimental way with variable fonts and interactions. Variable font helps to maintain the same visual style while using it in very different situations. We designed the new brand ID and logo in the same perspective as well.

2021 marks the first year for a new “Type 2” design on the reverse side of the American Eagle silver bullion coin issued by the United States Mint. Coin designer Emily Damstra chose two typestyles by American designers to best complement her striking new eagle illustration (replacing the “Type 1” drawing which had previously served for the first 35 years of the program). Trebuchet MS, designed by Vincent Connare, is used for the inscriptions “ONE DOLLAR • 1 OZ. FINE SILVER” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” P22 Mackinac Pro, designed by Mike Beens, is used for the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” Read Ms. Damstra's artist statement for a story of the design in her own words.

The passage there of particular interest to the topic of type design is her description of the criteria for selecting these fonts: grace, gravitas, and coinability. In this rarified field of endeavor, a font cannot be directly reproduced by the means we normally encounter. The letterforms must be engraved—sculpted for their final use by an artist. And so the resulting coins demonstrate a lifecycle that ends the same way it began, regardless of the tools used: a human hand and a human brain at work. A faithful and skilled translation of the two type designs was accomplished by engraver Michael Gaudioso.

Ohio University (OHIO), a 217-year old institution with multiple campuses, made P22 Mackinac the primary font family of its corporate identity early in 2021. University Communications and Marketing, rejecting an easy slide toward sameness, cited reasons that echo the type foundry’s own rationale: that the classic design with contemporary attributes serves as a bridge between the best of the old and the best of the new.

P22 Mackinac is supported by Termina Black, “best used for big and bold headlines”, and Proxima Nova, which serves as the text typeface on most pages. The palette is completed by Industry, “a sans serif font that is the Midwest in typeform”, according to the OHIO brand guidelines. It’s intended for icon illustrations, pull quotes, and CTAs. This set is to replace the previously used open-source OHIO fonts of EB Garamond, Barlow and Zilla Slab.

Owing to the volume of information contained on its website, the rollout continued at a steady pace throughout 2021. Campus faculty and staff make use of a University-wide license managed by the Office of Information Technology. Outside vendors are able to use Adobe Creative Cloud.

OHIO University successfully discerned that the pervading bias against onscreen use of serifed fonts doesn't apply here. The smallest size display of P22 Mackinac on their mobile version shows itself to be both sturdy and distinctive. Long text passages in the book weight are engaging.
