Since 1958, Palm Springs Life has been Southern California’s premier source for arts, architecture and design, entertainment, fashion, society, and music in and around Greater Palm Springs.

The limited-edition cover for the February 2026 issue features an undated photo of Nelda Linsk on a daisy-dotted sofa, typeset in IvyBodoni Semi Bold Italic with swash capitals. The cover is available as poster from the magazine’s web shop. The magazine’s standard typeface is Brandon Grotesque, and the line at the bottom is set in italic caps from Mercury.

Ashbury Heights is a Swedish synth/electropop group formed in 2005 by singer, producer and songwriter Anders Hagström and singer Yasmine Uhlin (until 2008 and again since 2020). Three Cheers for the Newlydeads was their debut album released on the 5th October 2007.

The font used in the album cover and throughout the CD is Bleeding Cowboys, which was released just earlier that year.

If ever an album cover said 1968 release, this is definitely one of them!
The band consisted of Steve Soles, Eric Kaz & Artie Traum. The album is primarily psych pop rock, but very good tunes, and some great musicianship.

The typeface chosen for the cover typography is West Italiano, which was released by Photo-Lettering by 1967. Photography by Joel Brodsky who’s best known for his portraits of Jim Morrison.

Bear was a psych rock band from Boston, originally called Children of Paradise. They recorded the theme music for Greetings, an early Brian De Palma film about young men avoiding the Vietnam War draft, starring Robert De Niro in his first role.

Minnie ’n Me: Songs Just for Girls album cover (1990), ft. the italic and roman styles of ITC Century Bold Condensed for secondary text

Minnie ’n Me was a 1990s merchandise branding program from the Walt Disney Company featuring the comic character Minnie Mouse in her childhood days. Her youthful companions include Daisy Duck, Clarabelle Cow, Penelope “Penny” Pooch, Patti Pony, T.J. Turtle, Heather Hippo, Lilly Lamb, Minnie's dog, Fifi, and Daisy's kitten, Trixie. Later on, Disney added Figaro, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck to the mix. On the whole, this line of merchandise was mainly targeted towards elementary-aged girls ages 4–9.

There was a wide variety of Minnie ’n Me products, including dolls and other toys, trading cards and stationary, perfume and jewelry, luggage, bedding and more. The logo used for this brand is based on Sweetheart, and some of the merchandise, mostly books, actually uses the typeface.

Similar in design to Photo-Lettering's Bonaparte and Lettergraphic's Spring, Sweetheart features terminals and tittles decorated with hearts and an alternate B with a heart-shaped counter. Additionally, its f, t and ! have arrow-like qualities that suggest Cupid and his bow.

The Magic Oyster Tour is a series of pop-up events across Germany, organized by Sara Hillenberger. It presents objects, calendars, ceramics, new shirts, live acts, and much more.

The design was created by Herburg Weiland, using Romie Regular and Italic (designed by Margot Lévêque), and available from Claude Type Foundry. Romie is supported by Grilli Type’s GT America Condensed.

Percy Faith’s I’ll Take Romance is a 1969 easy-listening compilation album released on the Harmony Records label. The title and artist name are in Davison Spencerian with the song list in News Gothic. The cover photo was taken by Walter Swarthout.

This anthology of over a hundred poems was edited by Phyllis McGinley (1905–1978), an American author of children’s books and poetry who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1961.

Muriel Nasser designed the book jacket for the first edition by J.B. Lippincott & Co. For the typography, she chose West Cooper Nouveau Swash 10, the bold italic weight of Dave West’s typeface family inspired by Cooper Black.

Several of the letterforms don’t match those in other in-use examples. The S appears to be an enlarged and stretched lowercase form, and the M doesn’t have a descending swash (cf. the album cover to A Message To The Nation). Also compare the P to the one on the Raw Pearl cover and the G to the Gordon Lightfoot cover. And it goes on: c and r have less distinctive terminals, the i dot is smaller, and the y looks different as well. Some of these differences might be explained by the presence of alternates – I haven’t seen a full a glyph set for this typeface style – but I tend to think we’re looking at a case of “lettering derived from typeface”.

The Looking Glass Murder is book #44 in the Arthur Crook series by Anthony Gilbert, the pen name of British writer Lucy Beatrice Malleson (1899–1973). First published in 1966, this is the cover of Pyramid Gothic’s paperback edition from 1968, with cover art by Lou Marchetti (1920–1992). The title typeface is the bold weight of West Cooper Nouveau Swash.

Three husbands had died mysteriously at Mallory Hall. Was Janet about to become the fourth widow?

Fawcett Gold Medal Books published The Curse of Mallory Hall, a novel by Dorothy Daniels (1915–2001), in two cover variants. One (shown above) exclusively features Oz Cooper’s Cooper Black Italic (1926). The other (below) goes a little harder: here, the title is set in the italic style of Benguiat Cooper Black Swash, a variant by Ed Benguiat that adds extra weight and swagger.

Cooper Black Italic in use for Bantam’s paperback edition of Thomas Pynchon’s The Crying of Lot 49 (1965), first published in 1967. Cooper Black Italic is used with a couple of swash caps. Some were included in the metal original, but most of those seen here were added only later, in phototype. While the front cover features two swashy Th ligatures, the back cover has an unligated pair. Furthermore, the glyphs for C and L are different between the two settings of the title.

Blurbs are set in News Gothic and Caledonia. The cover artist is unknown.

This double LP with the best of Ray Stevens (b. 1939) was released by K-Tel in 1980. The name of the singer-songwriter and comedian is shown in Parsons, a typeface designed in 1917 by Will Ransom. Parsons came with a couple of alternate swash caps and select glyphs with extra long ascenders and descenders. It didn’t have descending forms for R V S, though. Richard Flair a.k.a. Puritan Flair is a phototype version with more alternates, but it likewise lacks the glyphs seen here.

Book design and art direction for Silvia Prió’s photographic project Gypsy Witches by Gwennina Moigne. Through photographs, it retraces a journey across Romania to the Moldovan border, in search of the legend of witches among Romanian Roma communities. Blending artistic and documentary approaches, the project explores this mysterious folklore, as well as the rituals, relationships, and practices of a women-led community living in a small village in Romania. Solæ is used for the text, with a custom version designed for the title. The book was published by Éditions Odyssées and printed by Escourbiac.

Page numbers are translated to a code using moon phases.

The Best of Lainie Kazan, a compilation album by Lainie Kazan, was released by MGM Records in 1969. The title of the album is using Torino Italic Swash with the song list being Venus Italic.
