Titling type

Type with optimizations for tight linespacing and other titling-friendly situations. Titling type is usually designed for minimal clearance below the baseline and above the cap height, preventing ascenders and descenders from crashing between lines. Many wood type faces are designed for titling by default. Optional features like compact diacritics or shortened extenders might be offered for use as needed, sometimes accessible with the “titling” OpenType feature in digital fonts.
