Poster design for an exhibition on Galician urban art made by women. In 1984, Seor, a sixteen-year-old girl, created the first documented graffiti in Galicia. She was inspired by the film Beat Street. The exhibition showcased historical works and materials from Galician female urban artists from 1984 to 2023.

The poster is essentially typographic, highlighting the year in the exhibition title and using Sixten – the typeface’s first use. Some of its alternate character styles are activated in the subtitle. Small caps and lowercase appear also in the information text block on the bottom left corner.

The exhibition was curated by Amabel González Troncoso and Clara Rodríguez Cordeiro and took place at the Auditorio de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela.

The book contains a reproduction of the marriage dossier of Rosalía de Castro and Manuel Murguía, two significant figures in Galician history and literature. The dossier was discovered by the researcher Sagrario Abelleira in February 2021. The publication starts with a short essay and reproduces 43 handwritten sheets, dated from 1851 to 1858, along with their transcriptions.

The typography pairs Quinn Text with Job Clarendon.

Caldo de grelos. Versos gallegos is a book of Galician poetry written by R. Armada Teixeiro (Chumín de Céltegos) and published by A Propaganda Literaria, Habana (Cuba), 1895.

A Propaganda Literaria (1864–?) was one of the most important publishers in Cuba at the end of the 19th century. Founded by the Galician Alejandro Chao (1835–1894), his most notable editions were printed publications and books for Asturian and Galician readers.

Por unha bioloxía da imaxe (“Towards a Biology of the Image”) is an exhibition catalogue designed by Clara Sancho for the Spanish artist Clara Carvajal. The publication presents two successive series from Clara Carvajal: Dioses de la Frontera (“Gods of the Frontier”) and Argucia (“Sophistry”). It was published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the art center CGAC (Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea) in 2021.

The typeface Recita was used for all texts of this multilingual publication (Galician, Spanish, and English) in different colours to differentiate the languages.

Leira is a physical space with digital extensions located in Lugo, Galicia. A meeting place to explore the intersections between research, artistic creation and contemporary cultural production.

We seek to cultivate imaginaries of the present and the future around the cultural and territorial reality of which we are a part. We claim the periphery as a prolific place for the emergence of new views, practices and voices not captured by centrality frameworks. We want to work with other times that transcend the imperatives of speed and visibility, by offering places for production, reflection and critical/speculative thought through different tools, practices and knowledge.

Leira uses Asfen for the titles of its identity and its logo. For social media graphics, it’s paired with an unidentified sans [edit: it’s Armand Grotesk, see comments] used in all caps. On the website, the supporting sans is Nitti Grotesk. The project was founded by Antonio Giráldez López and Laura Tabarés, who might also be responsible for the design.

Cabria Para Normal is a proposal for which Diego Vites proposes to occupy with a large wooden structure almost all of the exhibition space of Normal, turning it into a place for experimentation, in a project that approached from different disciplines has as the aim is to analyze and observe the shapes, materials, movements and uses of this artisan process in order to transfer them to the field of contemporary art.

Cabria Para Normal is thought from the fragility of the present moment, a moment in which the etiquette of the popular takes contradictory directions, that deactivate for the town the value of the affiliation with its signs of identity, ending at a folklorizing drift that promotes the exaggeration of the own rituals.

The poster was designed by Novagarda Estudio using Bastardo Grotesk throughout.

This project began with our desire to organize more than 300 popular parties around Galicia during the month of August. We take basic shapes, colors and typography that remind us of that party summer time, to design a pocket size manual in which text and figures are combined.

The chosen types are Zenon and Macho Moustache from the CAST foundry. The stark formal contrast between a humanistic type, designed by one of the major contemporary historians of Renaissance typography, Riccardo Olocco, and a neo-grotesque type like Macho Moustache, forms a discreet counterpoint to the complex iconographic system.

O'Almacén, 'The Warehouse' in Galician, is a new cultural space and club in Vigo, Galicia (Spain). They offer a wide variety of activities for all ages, from a swing dance school, to a yoga master class. From a beer making course to a funk gig or an art exhibition.

O'Almacén owes its name to the location, a former fodder warehouse in a working class neighborhood, Lavadores, with a beautiful classical stone facade dated 1911.

The identity was designed with the warehouse concept in mind. The type choice became a design tool with the beautiful Timmons NY, a muscular and tall headline font that helped create the illusion of a shelve rack that works great for the complete logo and the 'monogram' version too. LL Brown and Source Serif Pro were used for other text needs, completing a nice and versatile type combination. The modular and mutant pattern was inspired by the boxes in the shelves. It worked as a great tool in almost every application.
