The Zig Zag chair is an iconic piece of furniture designed by the Dutch designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1934. It consists of a seat composed of three wooden planks assembled in a Z-shape, to which a fourth plank is joined for the back. This chair is a product of the minimalist and constructivist “De Stijl” movement.

This folder was designed by Integral Typography as a self-initiated project. It contains 48 digitally printed pages measuring 210×297 mm.

Poster and animation series for the second occurrence of the Autodromo party series. F200 Posters are printed digitally on 120g/m² blueback paper. Nicola comments on the design:

I took my inspiration from the French automotive designer Paul Bracq. This was my first published project where I did the whole concept, location scouting, research and art direction by myself.

Nora Eglesz is a make-up artist working in film, fashion and photography. Her practice is following an ethical approach using her influence and reputation in the Industry of becoming an ambassador for non-cruel and vegan make-up. 


KR8 Bureau in Vienna conveyed her visual identity through a strong typographic system, reflecting her snazzy and fun, unconventional personality. The counter weighting fonts Grand Slang and Swiss 721 build an expressive and memorable appearance, showing that pure, straight typographic branding can succeed without a traditional logo.

That's my visual identity consisting of letterhead, envelope, tote bag and business card. This visual language is based on the initials of my name and has a high level of adaptability. I used Monumental Grotesk Regular by Dinamo Typefaces.

Local Identities is the title of my BA project, made at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Art of the German University in Cairo (GUC) in 2017.

The aim of this project was to build a guide of the general identity of primary governmental schools, with a focus on the schools’ visuality for the public, through conducting research, building analysis, and observations.

The whole research steps and findings were published in a B5 publication of 192 pages. Digital printing, Kettle stitch bookbinding.

Neue Helvetica Extended was applied here as a solo typeface, used in different weights and sizes, horizontally and vertically, as the letters’ anatomy were matching the visuals added to it in a harmonious way, giving the viewer the visual a sense of the delivered subject, which is an academic research.

From Justine De Roaldes:

My theme was concrete. I was interested in the Bauhaus and more importantly in the importance of the Bauhaus in Israel, in Tel Aviv. I retraced the history of this movement and its migration with the rise of Nazism in Europe.

In 2017, Atelier Réel became Narrative, bureau de création. At that time, the agency was adorned with a new visual identity reflecting its vision of graphic design, based on the metaphor of story.

Narrative guides its clients in the writing of their image and the graphic shaping of their story. The agency argues for aesthetics that brings meaning, convinced that the graphic coherence values ​​a speech.

Narrative assisted photographer Jérémie Jung to create a book of his photo series Pāri mūriem.

Pāri mūriem are the Latvian words for Over the walls. This book is a glimpse into the everyday life of ten young men incarcerated in the juvenile detention centre of Latvia. Behind walls, they let us feel through their own eyes what it is like to wait for a sentence to expire. Together, we are switching from their claustrophobic boredom to their wish for freedom, sneaking in and out the prison walls. However, this virtual escape attempt could not be left unnoticed to the prison system.

We used F Grotesk designed by Radim Peško for its neutrality and its sharp aspects, matching the knife of the censorship that is present in the book. On the book cover, a rectangle was debossed and the title was screen printed on canvas.

Les Plantes et Babylone (“Plants and Babylon: looking at weeds in urban surroundings”) by artist Joas is dedicated to urban flora. Système Sensible (Charlotte Gauvin and Matthieu Meyer) used Kelvin Sans, designed by Thomas Bouville and distributed by 205TF. More information on Lesplantesetbabylon.fr

This beautiful book offers a selection of photographs from the Plants of Babylon project, a series of snapshots made daily and started in 2006. It highlights the spontaneous nature of weeds encountered in urban areas, during travels and trips. Plants find balance and manage to exist in the interstices of cities, where we do not expect them. The floral world settles in the urban space under unfavorable and sometimes hostile conditions. It is less the appearance of the plants that guides this photographic work than the desire to share the beauty of their quiet presence in the streets.

Not the End of Print is an experimental art research by Isabel Seiffert. The zero edition was a small production of 20 books for her graduation in 2011 at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart. It was supervised by the head of department Prof. Joost Bottema and got released as a official first edition in 2014 by the publishing house of Merz Akademie. It researches print as a desirable, tactile and physical medium.

The typography uses Incised 901 (Bitstream’s version of Antique Olive) and Gerard Unger’s Swift. The exclusive little book with golden debossed cover and gilded pages is printed by Freiburger Grafische Betriebe on 115gr matt BD Profibulk and 120gr white Munken Polar.

Anectode #1: The related poster, silkscreened onto an emergency blanket, is welcoming guests at letterspace.amsterdam, among who was David Carson, autor of The END of Print, who proudly posed and took pictures in front of it.

Anecdote #2: When at Merz Academy, meeting Isabel Seiffert during the pathway weeks and complementing her for the book, I mentioned my admiration for Antique Olive and Roger Excoffon. She returns “this is Incised 901 — much better”. Embarrassed that I seemingly missed out on a hip new revival of Antique Olive, I'd do my research back at the hotel ... yes, sometimes a Bitstream version can indeed be preferable.

Observers use comment platforms in YouTube to leave a mark on what they have observed. The reverse can be actualised. The observer becomes the observed when their words transcend the scrolling page and become the content of this indexed dictionary. Search for a letter, skim through the comments. Is there a different weight on a printed opinion? What is the content and what is the medium?

Architecture and design. Two disciplines are mixed in Twobo, a studio of architecture and product design based in Barcelona. Two perpendicular planes cross each other to build a monogram (an uppercase T from Mallory), a testimony that small details influence our perception. The plans unfold to create a new space; an architectural landscape that recalls paper and cardboard models.

Re-edition of Swiss law texts with a literal approach that reorganizes information and therefore navigation in articles of laws. The progression in the book is regularly punctuated by pages of notes and a series of photographs “Suisse Quotidienne” (Daily Swiss) which links the daily with the laws that govern them.
