The magazine Ruhm & Ego founded by Hamburg-based designers Sophia Weider and Lucas Hesse proves that fame and ego are the last things you need to get things done. The publication champions the side projects and personal passions of artists from various creative fields, showing that enthusiasm, dedication, and a true love of one’s craft are crucial to any creative process.

Aiming to inspire other creatives, the magazine encourages readers to venture into new areas, regardless of their lack of industry experience. The first issue of Ruhm & Ego was published in 2020, followed by a second issue in 2022, which is shown here.

Ruhm & Ego has a strong typographical presence. The use of two different styles of fonts creates a playful and modernist design.

The designers Sophia Weider and Lucas Hesse used Tempos Mono (Samara Keller) and TWK Lausanne​​​​​​​ (Weltkern) typefaces in the magazine.

The collective exhibition Objets trouvés was held in 2023 at Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris, curated by Barrault Pressacco.

The accompanying catalogue and poster, published by New Moon, invite readers to think collectively about the subjects of reuse and repurposing of materials in order to add a necessary cultural and disciplinary dimension. This project brings together forty-two international practices to speculate on the transformation of a series of objects, and builds new, indulgent and poetic views with the material heritage that surrounds us.

Designed by République Studio and typeset in LL Unica77 and Simon Mono. The publication (104 pages, 230×305 mm) was printed by Chirat on Fedrigoni Arena White Rough.

Casa Maria Bottero is an apartment designed by Umberto Riva for his family on the top floor of an eight-story housing cooperative on Via Paravia, in Milan, Italy. Riva worked on the project from 1965 to 1967 and Giorgio Casali photographed the completed work in 1969 for publication in the architecture magazine Domus and, a few months later, in Zodiac.

In the fall of 2023, Maria Bottero showed us around her home. Her words highlight some of the most poetic elements of Riva’s design and accompany the photographs of Allegra Martin and Francesco Paleari who, for the first time since 1969, have fully documented the home’s interiors and objects collected over the years. The building and Casa Maria Bottero are considered Umberto Riva’s first major project.

The design of the book was created by zoll, with texts written by Maria Bottero, and drawings by Sara Merlotti. The editorial coordination was made by Elisa Di Nofa, the photolithography by Francesco Paleari, and the translations by Maka Language Consulting.

Shoplifters is a bi-annual publication featuring the work of contemporary artists, photographers, designers, illustrators etc. Shoplifters doesn’t have a single identity, its size, paper, typography, and tone changes each time it’s published.

zweikommasieben is a Swiss magazine that has been devoted to the documentation of contemporary music and sounds since the summer of 2011. The magazine features artist interviews, essays and columns as well as photography, illustration and graphics. In addition zweikommasieben organizes concerts, partiezweis, club nights, matinees, raves and other fun events in various cities.

Issue #9 features Suisse Int'l, Suisse Int'l Mono and Suisse Works from the Suisse collection available on Swiss Typefaces.
