Meteor is a biennial for contemporary theatre and performing arts, organised by Bergen Internasjonale Teater (BIT). In 2025 the festival received a new visual identity developed by PART. The identity is part of a larger design process we've undertaken for BIT and its sub-brands, Meteor, Oktoberdans and Prøverommet — each with its own rhythm, but now united on a shared visual platform.

Where BIT uses three styles of the typeface family Bertin, Meteor uses one: Bertin Square Orientation. The color palette is raw and physical: a powerful orange, a deep maroon and a metallic grey.

The campaign takes shape through print; the hero piece is an A1 format poster printed with  orange and metallic silver sopot colors on coated stock. The poster is the basis for the entire physical campaign: cut and folded into two different program covers, two smaller poster formats that also work as pocket-sized campaign pieces, and finally into wayfinding during the festival. One print, many functions: a circular and tactile approach to festival design.

Mawmaw is a book by photographer Anthony Wilson, co-published by Guest Editions and Pomegranate Press.

Mawmaw is an intimate, long term exploration of West Virginia's grand families - households where children are being raised by their grandparents. Spanning all four seasons, the work moves beyond the usual narratives around the opioid crisis to examine the many reasons grandparents step into a caregiving role: incarceration, death, unpreparedness or neglect.

Through photographs made between 2021 and 2026, the book weaves together everyday life, from birthdays and play to exhaustion and resilience, to show both the triumph and the struggles of these families. At the heart of it all the grandparents themselves, who keep the children fed, happy, and most most importantly, deeply loved.

The book is typeset using DGM Saffron.

Slanted magazine #47, “Digital Tools”, examines the instruments that shape contemporary creative practice. This issue offers a diverse insight into the global creative scene and uses numerous examples to show how digital tools are used to create, question, and rethink design itself. The spectrum ranges from experimental open-source projects and custom scripts to indispensable utilities that shape creative digital and analog workflows, continuously expanding and redefining creative boundaries.

The issue covers disciplines such as graphic and type design, illustration, 3D, web, generative design, and creative coding. Designers, artists, and developers share their insights in interviews and articles, explaining how digital tools shape their aesthetics, imagination, and authorship. By introducing new workflows and technologies, Slanted magazine #47 inspires both experienced designers and beginners to explore the creative potential of digital design.

Alongside the magazine, a dedicated online platform has been launched, featuring an extended directory of digital tools. In addition to all tools included in the print issue, the website gathers further projects, discoveries, and resources identified during extensive research. Structured by category and continuously evolving, the platform invites exploration, experimentation, and a rethinking of the role of digital tools in creative practice.

The magazine was edited by Jacob Tessmann, Lars Harmsen (editor-in-chief), and Julia Kahl (managing editor). It has 224 pages measuring 16×24 cm. The interior was full color offset printed with spot colors by Stober Medien. The cover uses offset printing with spot colors and hot-foil embossing by Gallery Print. Papers used include Efalin 108 high white fine linen 280g/m² (cover), Zeta diamond extra smooth 120g/m², and Ibo Two 80g/m² (inside) manufactured by Reflex. The Swiss brochure with flaps and open thread stitching was made by Buchbinderei Spinner.

TT Neoris Pro has become part of the brand identity for Supersuite: our expressive font is used on the company’s website and product packaging.

​Supersuite is an American perfume and body care brand. The simultaneously clean and original TT Neoris Pro perfectly complemented the vibrant, modern design without overwhelming it. It is paired with the condensed Bebas Neue and a custom script logotype.

Fairy Skate Princess Island is an animated island as seen in “Skate Night”, an episode of the critically, and commercially, unsuccessful Cartoon Network series Out of Jimmy’s Head, which was based on the live-action 2006 film Re-Animated, and was advertised as Cartoon Network's first live-action series (though, that honor goes to Big Bag in 1996).

In the episode, Dolly transports Jimmy to a magical place where everyone’s a princess, and Jimmy was humiliated from wearing a dress in cartoon form. But, Dolly wanted to teach Jimmy how to skate well to win Robin’s heart.

The fonts used for the title card are Musicals, a font produced by Brain Eaters Font Co., and Heartland. Musicals is used for “Fairy Skate Princess”, while Heartland is used for “Island”.

DIN 1451 Mittelschrift and Engschrift are the officially regulated typefaces used for all forms of public wayfinding and traffic signs in Vietnam. The fonts are modified versions referred to as “giaothong1” (Mittelschrift) and “giaothong2” (Engschrift) which ass support for Vietnamese characters. While exact dates aren't given and documents are scarce, what research I was able to do would peg its standardization to around the 2010s, though it could be way earlier.

One rarely comes across signs that use other, non-regulated typefaces. The most common ones I've seen use some variations of Helvetica, Univers, and Times New Roman. There are many reasons as to why these oddballs exist, but it mainly boils down to either locally made signs or ones that predate the standardization. There is about a 50/50 chance these will get replaced eventually.

Bodies and Souls is the seventh studio album by The Manhattan Transfer, released in September 1983 on the Atlantic Records label.

This album took the Manhattan Transfer in a different direction from their previous releases, offering a new, revised style of their music. There were several collaborations on this album, including with Stevie Wonder, Rod Temperton, and Jeremy Lubbock. Frankie Valli appears as a guest artist on the song “American Pop”.

The German sleeve for Althea & Donna’s 1978 hit single “Uptown Top Ranking” features four typefaces that were all available from Letraset at the time. None of them was an original creation by the English manufacturer of dry transfer lettering, though: Kabel Black (“Top Ten in England”) and Futura (“An Original Lightning Recording”) are adaptations of geometric sans serifs originally made as metal type in the late 1920. Neptun as used for the song titles is even older than that: it’s a revival of a turn-of-the-century oddity from AG f, a foundry in Offenbach, Germany.

The shaded slab-serif caps chosen for the artists’ names – here misspelled Althia & Donna – were released by Letraset just a few months earlier, in 1977. Yankee Shadow was drawn by Tony Geddes. It’s one style out of a family of eight, shown by Alphabet Photosetting in London. Yankee is a collegiate slab not unlike Tal Leming’s United Serif, Christoph Koeberlin’s Winner, and Weichi He’s LL Champion. The outward-facing unilateral serifs in its boldest styles remind me of City Bold as designed by Georg Trump in 1930. Unlike City, it’s drawn entirely without curves. In this regard, it’s similar to Aldo Novarese’s Colossalis.

Yankee Shadow was digitized at least twice: by Mickey Rossi as Jim Thorpe (2000) and by Nick Curtis as Sis Boom Bah NF (2007). To my knowledge, other styles from the Yankee family haven’t been revived yet.

Jamaican reggae group Roots Radics was formed in 1978. Their 1984 album Roots Dub Style was released on the Canadian Scorpio label. The uncredited cover shows Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie I – worshipped as messiah by followers of the Rastafari movement – flanked by four Lions of Judah. The title typeface with heavy tops and bottoms is a version of Mansard, likely Letraset’s Rodeo.

Colin Brignall’s Superstar is a contoured collegiate sans with octagonal rounds issued by Letraset in 1970. It here features on the German sleeve for a 1977 single by English pop singer Barry Ryan (1948–2021), released on Private Stock and distributed by EMI Electrola.

Fonts from the Flea Market #1460

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich are an English rock band formed in Salisbury in 1964. This compilation album released in 1981 brings together twelve of their greatest hits, including “Zabadak”, their 1968 number one hit “The Legend of Xanadu”, and “Hold Tight!” as featured in Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 film Death Proof.

The uncredited cover design combines two lesser known typefaces both released by Letraset in 1977: Yankee Shadow by Tony Geddes and Paddington by Freda Sack.

Super Eurobeat (Japanese: スーパー ユーロビート, Hepburn: Sūpā Yūrobīto; abbreviated SEB; officially stylized as SUPER EUROBEAT) is a CD compilation album series of Japanese Eurobeat music. It has been running for over three decades, making it one of the longest-running music compilations. Following Super Eurobeat Vol. 250 in 2018, the series became an annual release.

This is how the album covers for the Super Eurobeat series looked during the peak of eurobeat’s popularity in the early 2000s. This cover format launched on New Year's Day 2000 with volume 101, and was retired after June 2003 with volume 139. The volume numbers are set in City Bold Italic. Yes, there is a real italic to that typeface where the dots aren’t slanted. A digital version of the italics by Berthold exists.

The “SUPER EUROBEAT” wordmark, originally designed by Round Table Associates in 1991, appears to be based off of Insignia, redrawn with narrower proportions, angular glyphs for S, U, O, and protruding bits in P R B moved from the center to the top.

Hitori + Kaiso 1998–2001 is Casino Versus Japan’s fourth album and first compilation of unreleased tracks. The album was released on January 30, 2004, via Attacknine.

Century Gothic is used for the artist name on the front cover with a slight drop-shadow. In the bottom right corner, the album name is set in Arial. There is heavy tracking used on most text.

The track list on the back cover uses Arial Bold, also with heavy tracking.

The cover design/concept is credited to Hologramrinse/Erik Alwell, who is a cofounder of the Attacknine label

Psyko Ferret was an unsuccessful pilot for a potential Nickelodeon TV series, produced by Klasky Csupo in 2000. Suburban was used for the Psyko Ferret logo, as well as both the opening and end credits.

The Wondrous World of Whimsical Willy is a fictional children’s TV show, starring Whimsical Willy in the magical fantasy land of Daydream Lane. The show is created by a bunch of criminals who manipulate their impressionable child audience (and the Mayor) into giving them money. It appeared in the Powerpuff Girls episode “Neighbor Hood”.

This show is a parody on Soupy Sales, a 1950s children’s TV show, infamous for an episode where they scammed children into taking money from their parents and sending it to the show's address. The creator of the show claimed that when they scammed the kids, it was only a joke, not meant to be taken seriously, but he didn’t account for how impressionable his young audience was. As such, he made a rough estimate of $60,000 off of the stunt, and got in lots of trouble with his superiors.

The font used for this show is Action Is, designed by Jeff Levine and digitized by his friend Brad O. Nelson at Brain Eaters Font Co.. Cartoon Network used the Action Is font since the late 1990s, and throughout most of the 2000s.

Good‑bye, Curtis is a children’s picture book written by Kevin Henkes and published by Greenwillow Books. The story follows Curtis, a neighborhood mail carrier, on his final day of work after 42 years of service. As he makes his last rounds, he is met with gifts, hugs, and a surprise community party. The narrative highlights themes of gratitude, community, and everyday dedication. Illustrations by Margaret Dyer add warmth and charm to the farewell scene.

The cover typography uses the Equinox typeface. Its clean, geometric letterforms provide a modern and approachable design that complements the book’s tone.

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary television sitcom created by Mike Clattenburg that began airing in 2001 as a continuation of his two short films, including 1995’s “The Cart Boy” and 1998’s “One Last Shot”. The show follows the misadventures of a group of trailer park residents, living in the fictional “Sunnyvale Trailer Park” in Dartmouth, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
