7er Studio was responsible for the visual appearance of the 23rd Tour de Lorraine. The colour combination of silver and orange accompanies visitors through the political festival, which explores the city of solidarity in workshops, theatres, discussions and concerts and invites to join in and participate. “Solidarische Stadt! Wir alle sind Bern” is the motto of this year’s edition. Accordingly, 7er Studio has various figures appear on posters, which also function as foldable programme booklets, placemats, advertisements and on social media, holding on to each other and exploring together.

The festival describes itself on their website as follows (translated from German):

The Tour de Lorraine is a resistance festival that emerged in 2001 as a protest against neoliberal exploitation, the WEF and in favour of a sustainable future. As an independent political festival, we place the development of alternatives at the centre. Depending on the topic, the volunteer collective is formed anew and organises workshops, panels, cultural events and much more. An important component is the long night of concerts. One admission opens the doors to 17 venues around the Lorraine and the proceeds from the legendary solo party are distributed to emancipatory projects.

“We are all Bern” is a movement for a city of solidarity. It has a special role to play among all our fellow campaigners this year. An association that fights for diversity and migration to be recognised as a social reality. It is about the participation of all residents of the city. The present and future should be co-determined by everyone and shaped on an equal footing!

Earth Alliance is a worldwide although US-centric organization at the meeting point between ecological fight and the creative industry. Earth Alliance was co-founded by actor Leonardo Di Caprio (with Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth) in 2019 and heavily advertised as such at first, but we noticed the disappearance of his name from their main channels headers, maybe due to the recurring questions around the actor's ethics and way of life (partners systematically under the age of 25…).

Delicious Nuggets are the first main public content released by Earth Alliance, in the shape of a website featuring articles targeted to creators interested into using their voices to raise awareness around climate change, as well as a fund to foster such creators. From the Nuggets website:

Nuggets are bite-sized, science-backed snacks to help creators—like you—change the conversation about the climate crisis.

Earth Alliance features a festival of typefaces for their “Nuggets”, with visual cues inspired by (online) magazine design. The three main families are Kilotype's Queens, NaN Tragedy, and Colophon’s Basis Grotesque. Each nugget, treated as an independent article, can feature a range of additional titling fonts, although some of them (Review, Ohno Softie) are used across different nuggets. The font license budget of this project might have been juicy.

Club Quarantäne is a 36-hour virtual rave organized by the electronic music community to raise funds for marginalized communities. The first edition was April 24–26, 2020 with the next scheduled for Jun 12–14. Visual direction is credited to Sam Aldridge, Multisex, and Selam X.

The website (designed by Ungroup group), fundraiser, and social media use a single font, exclusively. ABC Viafont is an unreleased typeface by Robert Janes for Dinamo based on Viafont, an alphabet created for an OCR device from 1970. The original alphabet was uppercase only, so Janes’s version — with a full lowercase, accented characters, punctuation, and a few alternates — is a significant update.
