Began as the Western Printers’ Supply Company of Chicago in 1901 (not then a type foundry) and renamed as Western Type Foundry in 1906 when it merged with the typefounding operations of Charles H. Schokmiller. Was sold to Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1918. [MacMillan]
Not to be confused with the Great Western Type Foundry, which was the original name of Barnhart Brothers & Spindler.
