Founded in Berlin by merchant Wilhelm Woellmer, long-time employee of the Eduard Haenel foundry, in 1867. Took over C.G. Schoppe the same year. Acquired in 1883 by Siegmund Borchardt (1842–1915) who was joined by his brother Emil as partner in 1884. Abrass line factory was built in 1888. Liquidated in 1938. Some of the typefaces were transferred to Genzsch & Heyse, Klingspor, Schriftguss, and Weber. [Bauer/Reichardt] [Reichardt]
