Pondji is a pop-up place launched in summer 2023 at Sanderstraße 22 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Inside, host Carolina Paoletti (The Onion Project) offers the traditional and original Brazilian pão de queijo.

The visual communication of the space is by Berlin-based studio Rocketfuelled! (Reuben Whitehouse and Jessica Herbert) using the typeface Baustraße produced by Fantasia Type and distributed by Future Fonts as the headline font. The logo appears to custom made from dots, the supporting typeface is AG Book Rounded [edit: it’s ABC Diatype Rounded, see comments].

  1. Are you certain this is AG Book Rounded? The R is straight, in AG the R is different. The a has no tail. The dot on the i is bigger. It looks like ABC Diatype Rounded from Dinamo.

  2. Thank you, Yorel – you are correct about ABC Diatype Rounded. That was my mistake – fixed now.

The current version of AG Book Rounded as sold on MyFonts indeed has a tailed a. But Günter Gerhard Lange’s original design from 1976 is different in that regard. Until the recent acquisition of the Berthold library by Monotype, various digital versions were available. Some of them followed the original. Shown below is a comparison of AG Book Rounded (as digitized by URW, top) and ABC Diatype Rounded (bottom):
