Medúza is a novel by Jarmila Loukotková (1923–2007) from 1973. Shown here is a paperback edition published in 1991 by Československý spisovatel in the Spirála series.

Oldřich Pošmurný (1942–2010) designed the cover, using Gary Gillot’s Embrionic 85. He broke the title into three lines, allowing him to feature three of the font’s wriggly swash caps, apparently in order to reference the snake-haired Medusa.

Via Radek Sidun of Manual of Diacritics, who points out the “lovely hidden ‘uacute’”, with the accent integrated into the cap height.

The title lockup with the tightly spaced and overlayered glyphs from Embrionic is repeated on the title page.
